Wouldn’t it be neat if there was an entire week every year dedicated to libraries? A week where we could celebrate how awesome your library is?
Well lucky for us April 10th is the beginning of National Library Week! National Library Week came about in 1957 when research started indicating that people were spending less time reading and spending more time on entertainment like the radio and television. At that time the main purpose of National Library Week was to motivate people to read so they would support the library.
Libraries have changed a bit since then trying to entice you with other wonderful resources like movies, technology, learning, storytimes, and events. It is meant as a way to make a plethora of forms of educational and entertainment resources available for the community it serves. As we are here to serve you, come on down to the library and check out some of the excellent free resources, events, and programs we have to offer you (especially during NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK!!!!).

Most people don't come to the library unless they have an assessment that needs to be done. Introducing library week would really motivate person to actually use the library to read and also explore the other resource that they provide.
